Daddy's 34th

Daddy turned a year older last month and in the ensuing flurry of activity, I forgot to post this up. We even forgot about the cake that a visiting friend - Adeline - bought on the night of the big day. Thus, the cake was paraded out the night AFTER the big day.

Of course, I also forgot about my own mother's birthday a couple of days later until she called me up to berate me about not wishing her on the day itself.

Yikes.

Siblings

If my sis and I weren't blood-related, I don't think we'd even be friends. We are THAT different.

I don't get how she can be so anal at times and she can't stand my guts. I'm not the most sensitive person in the world and she's got skin as thin as an onion skin. I'm loud and garrulous and she shoots me the evil eye when I get carried away. She's black-and-white; I'm all shades of grey. She's meticulous; I'm, well, I'm... .

Some time back, I elicited her anger when I inadvertently blurted a remark during dinner. I didn't know I'd caused offence till I realised I was getting the cold shoulder and there was a mighty frost coming my way not even halfway through dinner.

Last night sis texted me; she apologised for snapping at me over the phone. She'd had a long day and was tired, so she'd barked. Huh? I didn't even realise she'd snapped at me. Actually, she barks quite a lot, so maybe I'd just gotten used to it.

Bloody connections aside, we'd probably not give each other the time of day. And for all our differences, I do know that she's got my back. Of course, I've got hers. Oh, and we both love to read.

So, thank goodness for blood.

And thank goodness for sisters.

Like Datuk, Like Cucu

Daddy and Datuk are forever on their Blackberries. Does it surprise anyone that the little one is fixated on handphones too?

Feeding The Lories

The lories at the Jurong Bird Park always draw crowds. Luckily Sophie was awake when we arrived at the lory loft. She had her fill of lories.

Sporting twin pouts, father and daughter celebrate dad's 33rd today.

Happy Birthday to my better half.

Oh, and the little one can pout on demand.

The Girl In White

Even with the muted effect of the polaroid, you can still clearly see that one small eye. Oh well....

This was taken several weeks back, a month almost and is one of my favourites. I'd just gotten my 680SLR then and was having a field day, trying to limit myself to just one polaroid a day. For the most part, I succeeded.

The girl has a thing for cameras; the moment I pick up the 680 or the D80, she'll make a beeline for either. With the D80, she'll fiddle with the lens cap and try to put it back onto the lens, a few times she succeeded. She even knows how to get her fingers around the cap mechanism and fit it back onto the lens with a teeny little bit of help. One day I found her on the floor with the D80, cap off, trying to fit the cap back on with a little too much gusto. I just about had heart palpitations. Thank goodness we'd gotten the Hoya filter to fit onto the lens proper.

In the meantime, am looking forward to a weekend away in Bali. Other than being away on holiday, the best part of the trip is we get to have fun with the rest of the Ng family too. I don't think we've EVER gone away on a family holiday before. The last time I remember when we were actually on a family holiday was in Langkawi waaaay back when and that doesn't count because sis was only a tot just a little older than Sophia and the reason I remember it is because we have pictures of her naked on the beach (no one will ever find them as she's snitched these off the photo album and taken them into her safekeeping).

Nope, no other family holidays when we turned into teenagers and then blossomed into full grown adults. Damn, I have never taken a proper family holiday with my parents and sis before! Let's hope we don't get on each others' nerves too much. But then again, there's always the grandchild to deflect any family tensions/crises.

Oh, and there's always the private pool at the villa that we'll be staying in.

The Best Sister in The Whole Wide World

Did I mention I have the bestest sister in the whole wide world?

"Use me when I'm free," she said. And I did. For trips to immigration, for doctor's check-ups, to the airport, homemade dinners, etc. She's been a fortress of support.

Thanks, Ling. I love you!!

Meet and Greet

Meeting nenek for the first time. Sophie offered her 'tea'. Yikes, her very own...not a very polite way of saying hi to your great grandmother, girl.

Daddy's Little Girl

We'll be running a sales training workshop next week. It's to be held off-site at a nearby hotel and will be a full-day event followed by dinner. One of the directors, our sales consultant and I will be presenting and facilitating.

My MD had my Admin/PR Director book me a room just in case I needed a rest anytime during the day, seeing as I am 35 weeks gone and I'll be on my feet the whole day.

I'd forgotten about that little detail.

I'm 33 and a soon-to-be-mom, and my dad's still got my back.

Thanks Dee.

Shout-out to Sis

Thanks for dropping by to clean the litter today. And the mess that Meg left behind on the couch, urgh!! Although you did almost scare me out of my skin at the front door...
